If you have been given the job of choosing an asset maintenance system you have our profound sympathy - it is an extremely difficult task. It's a big market and there are a lot of systems out there ranging in price from a few thousand to hundreds of thousands of pounds. How do you choose which one is right for you?

Let's try and cut out all the hype. Software is only a tool that organises and analyses data much more efficiently than paper based systems, so the bottom line is that you should be looking for a system that has the functions you need and requires minimum human intervention to achieve the desired result i.e. information.

If you have the time, the will and the resources you can begin the slog of evaluating. The risk is that you will become one of those horror statistics we have all heard about: "We spent £30,000 two years ago and it's still not up and running properly".

This happens because demos are often contrived to look good with test data and it is not unusual for one to be taken in sufficiently to buy, when still not really sure what the system does and how. All systems claim to be "user-friendly" but this overused term should really be a measure of the efficiency of the user interface: How many mouse clicks to record a fault? How much tabbing between screens to carry out an activity? How much key entry is required? These measurable criteria have a direct bearing on the time and cost of running a system and consequently the acceptance of and endorsement by the user.

EASY to use...

Easy FM isn't designed for IT experts. We know that many users are hands-on trades people who have to put down the spanner to sign the job off on the computer: "I have to warn you, we're not very computer literate", is a phrase we have heard many times. Therefore we have made the screen designs logical, obvious and practical, with everything written in plain English rather than obscure and confusing coding systems. Our customers agree that we have successfully included all the functionality whilst not intimidating or frustrating the user.

EASY to trust...

Easy FM users have to deal with scores of maintenance requests every day, often in security or safety critical environments where it is vital to prove compliance with service level agreements and provide an audit trail. Reliability is therefore crucial. Easy FM has been thoroughly tested in the line of fire for five years and is completely dependable. The more you use it, the more it will pay you back.

EASY start-up...

Many studies have concluded that people vastly underestimate the task of initial data take-on. It is certainly not unusual to hear of situations where this task has taken over a year and rarely less than six months. This is because the data tables in most systems are empty and it takes a lot of tedious and repetitive typing to populate them. Uniquely, Easy FM is pre-loaded with a comprehensive generic asset and task library called the "Asset Reference". In essence, to register an asset one merely has to pick the asset description from a list and confirm the location, at which point the data fields are automatically filled with maintenance tasks, intervals, trades, times and priorities appropriate to that asset, that the user can accept or edit.

This is why it is possible for Easy FM to be up and running in as little as two weeks, including a full asset survey of the site.

EASY to modify...

Easy FM includes a "System Set-Up" facility that allows you to edit the content of the drop down tables found throughout the system, thus refining the system to meet your exact requirements. System Set-up is also where you enter details of your staff and suppliers and other information unique to your site.

EASY interface...

Easy FM has been developed using Microsoft ® development tools. Integration with other software for access to information such as electronic drawing records (CAD) is therefore straightforward, whether you are a stand-alone or network user.

EASY output...

Any software is only as good as its ability to provide meaningful information. With Easy FM - the complete CMMS and Facilities Management Software you don't have the inconvenience of configuring reports or the need for an external report generator; Easy FM Reports contains all you need. Many of these are multi-choice, and all attractively presented in A4 format. However, if you need something different, just talk to us.

EASY price...

A recent study of 50 educational institutions using Facilities Management/CMMS Software, concluded that the total cost for purchase and implementation was on average £40,000 (six users), while the average time to get a system up and running - not always satisfactorily - was 15 months. No wonder prospective purchasers are cautious.
